- Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty announced their breakup to the world on Instagram yesterday.
- A new report claims that Demi and Kristian’s relationship was struggling because of the distance between them.
It’s only been 24 or so hours since Bachelor Nation stans started mourning the end of Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty’s relationship, but we’re now getting fresh new intel on why things between them dissolved in the first place. Reports say distance played a major factor in why Demi and Kristian called their engagement off.
According to an E! source, Demi and Kristian were spending too much time away from each other, and that was beginning to put an unhealthy strain on their relationship. “They were supposed to permanently move in together in L.A., and that never happened,” the source said.
After the first round of breakup rumors surfaced last month, Demi went on the defensive and kindly told Us Weekly that her relationships aren’t anyone else’s business but her own. In the same breath, Demi did also mention that she and Kristian were living on opposite ends of the East Coast.
“Every relationship is different and it’s, like—I mean, in the most respectful way—it’s nobody’s business how our relationship works. We both have so much going on right now,” Demi told the magazine. “She’s in Florida, I’m in New York, but we do spend time together. Just because we don’t broadcast it doesn’t mean that we’re not together.”
It kind of sounds like Demi and Kristian didn’t spend much time together after Bachelor in Paradise ended, although it’s unclear if that was by design. “They really haven’t spent much time together in the same place since getting back from Paradise, and it made them rethink the whole situation. They grew apart, and once they came down from the post-vacation high, they realized they were rushing their relationship,” the E! source said.
Although Demi and Kristian have called off their engagement, they still have a lot of love for one another. The source added, “They still love each other but felt it was best to call off the engagement for now.”
