Tyler Cameron Needs to Leave Hannah Brown Alone

Stop commenting on her Instagram. Seriously.

Have you ever ended a relationship, only for your ex to keep popping up in your mentions at the worst possible moments? What about an ex you dumped, then asked out again on live TV...only for them to start dating supermodel Gigi Hadid immediately after seeing you for drinks? No? I guess that’s just Hannah Brown then. All things considered, I’ve got to ask one thing of Tyler Cameron: Give Hannah some space.

Look, Hannah has had some serious ups and downs during and after her turn as the Bachelorette. She dated more than 20 men, picked the wrong guy, ended her engagement, tried to start something with her runner-up, and now is on Dancing With the Stars. There are a lot of positive things that came from that experience, but it’s, no doubt, been an emotional roller coaster for Hannah.

Things came to a bit of a head this week when Hannah posted an emotional Instagram about her struggles on and off the DWTS stage:

“When I decided to do DWTS, I thought it would be a fun way to channel all my energy after a whirlwind experience as the Bachelorette,” Hannah wrote in her post. “I came into this experience a little broken and confused—more than I’ve shared.” You can read the whole post above, but basically, Hannah admits to struggling with the competition, her confidence, expectations, and connecting with everyone at home. Hannah’s post is perfectly reflective of what we’ve known about her for months. She’s not afraid to be honest and real about negative feelings.

But what was supposed to be a message about embracing your own struggles and insecurities was quickly derailed by a comment from none other than Tyler Cameron. “Fall down 7 times, get up 8! You got this, HB. Be where your feet are and enjoy the ride. You’re doing amazing,” he wrote.

Now the headlines are all about him. “Tyler Cameron Sends Message of Support to Ex Hannah Brown After She Cries at ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” Us Weekly wrote.“Tyler Cameron Supports Hannah Brown After ‘Defeating’ Dancing With the Stars Experience,” E! reported. Poor, sad Hannah! But look at what a great guy Tyler is, right? Even we here at Cosmo called the comment the “sweetest.”

Look, Tyler was known and applauded for doing the exact same thing throughout the entire Bachelorette experience. He’s her number one fan and champion, and that’s why everyone fell for him so hard. Hannah even liked the comment! Supportive bae is his whole brand, but it’s getting to be a bit exhausting. His posts are beginning to feel less like a way to uplift his friend and more of a cry for attention. Like, “Hey, remember me, world? It’s your Internet boyfriend! I’m still here!”

This comment was written following Tyler’s split from Gigi Hadid, his girlfriend of almost three months—which he has no problem discussing with the press already. He may want to stay in the spotlight, but it’s time to take a step back from Hannah. It would be one thing if Hannah were receptive to his attention, but she doesn’t seem to be completely on board. Watch this Cosmo video from August to see what I mean:

“Remember that one time I asked a guy out on live television after I got unengaged and then...just read the tabloids.” LOL, but also woof.

Later in September, Tyler reached out to Hannah via text on her birthday...which he felt he needed to tell Us Weekly. Here’s how she responded when they asked her about it after a night of DWTS: “It was nice for him to text me on my birthday.” Very...diplomatic. What’s she going to say? “I really wish America’s fave would leave me the f*ck alone”? Of course not.

Yet, in a video that just came out on Elle’s YouTube page, Hannah actually advises against being “besties who text” with your ex, something she thinks is confusing and will “not be helpful for anybody involved.”

To be completely honest with you, I have and will continue to be team Tyler. He seems like a sweet guy, and I love a feminist who speaks out against gross, controlling behavior! That doesn’t mean he’s not taking advantage of his nice-boy image to keep his name out there. Or maybe I’m wrong and Hannah is thrilled to hear from him! If that’s the case, then maybe next time he wants to talk to Hannah, he can reach out to her privately and avoid sharing the news of their correspondence with the media. And if she doesn’t text back...well then, he can take that hint.
